A |     (ECNS) -- The 29th Chengdu International Automobile Exhibition, also known as the Chengdu Motor Show (CDMS), will run Aug. 21–30 at the Western China International Expo City in Sichuan Province, organizers said Wednesday.        As one of China's top-tier A-class auto shows and the largest in the central and western regions, this year's exhibition covers 220,000 square meters and will bring together nearly 120 mainstream automotive brands from home and abroad, featuring about 1,600 vehicles on display.    Since its launch in 1998, CDMS has become a key platform for automakers and consumers in central and western China, connecting the industry chain upstream and downstream. The 2026 show will highlight Chinese independent brands, luxury marques, joint ventures and new energy vehicles, with multiple models making global, national or regional debuts.    (By Tang Yuxian)                    。    Channing Tatum, Kirsten Dunst and Peter Dinklage headline the crime thriller Roofman, which is set for its OTT release soon. The Derek Cianfrance directorial is inspired by the real-life story of spree robber Jeffrey Manchester, who became infamous for breaking into his target locations by drilling through their roofs. He later made headlines after escaping from prison and hiding out in a toy store.     Dinklage, who plays Mitch, the manager of a toy store, spoke about discovering the story and what connected him to the film. The Game of Thrones actor told us, "That’s what I love about what I do for a living, finding new stories, being introduced to new stories. And now that I know about it, I’ve read about it, obviously, since becoming part of the film. It’s such a fascinating story. And he (Jeffrey Manchester) was involved in filmmaking. Channing, they talked to each other, and Derek did as well. And to have that first-hand conversation with inspiration is invaluable."                                                                           View this post on Instagram          A post shared by Roofman (@roofmanmovie)               He continued, "I just think it’s what Derek does best, is he gets very personal with each of the characters. He follows the heart. So, at the core of this, if I’m going to call it anything, it’s a love story. Because there’s really nothing without a love story in comedy or drama. Because without love, there’s nothing to risk. And with great risk comes all the inevitable pitfalls and downfalls and highs and lows."                                                                 View this post on Instagram          A post shared by Roofman (@roofmanmovie)                              Roofman also stars LaKeith Stanfield, Juno Temple, Ben Mendelsohn, Uzo Aduba and Emory Cohen, among others. A lot of people who were involved in the real-life story of Manchester made cameos in the film. These include Charles Cummings, who drove the truck used by Manchester to escape prison, Katherine Scheimreif, Manchester's arresting officer and Chris Kimbell, a SWAT officer.     Roofman releases exclusively on December 19 on Lionsgate Play.     Also Read: Peter Dinklage talks about his The Hunger Games prequel character: “I love the tragedy…”。
